Hello! Summer camp is just around the corner! We have an awesome and large group of scouts going to summer camp this year.
Here are some important updates.
This week's Troop meeting (June 5th) will feature lots of summer camp information - What to pack, how to pack, and picking activity choices. Scouts attending summer camp and their parents are encouraged to attend.
The 2026 Troop Summer Camp Guidebook is now available. This is required reading for all scouts and parents. It contains all the details about summer camp.
The process of selecting activities for summer camp is now underway. Please see all the details at 2026 Summer Camp Activity Choices
On June 20th, the Troop will be holding an Eagle Court of Honor for Grace and Jacob. This is an opportunity for the whole Troop, including families, to come out and celebrate the achievements of these two new Eagle Scouts.
The ceremony will be held outdoors at Westford Academy starting at 2:00 PM*. The ceremony will be at the outdoor performing arts stage near the band entrance (left side of the building). Join us for a reception immediately after the ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony and reception will be indoors in the WA Flag Lobby (entrance at the back of the school).
Sunday, June 14th is FlagDay! The Troop will participate in the American Legion Post's Flag retirement ceremony. The ceremony starts at 6:00 pm and should be done by 7:00 pm. Scouts are asked to arrive by 5:15 pm to prepare and help set up.
Scouts should wear their full Scout uniform. This is a big event.
Past Flag Day ceremonies have included the Westford Police Department's honor guard and Fire Department pipes and drums corps. With two ladder trucks from Tyngsboro and Westford, suspend the large garrison flag. State Rep. Jim Arciero and other dignitaries attend. The Scouts play a significant role in this ceremony, so everyone is encouraged to attend. Family and friends are also invited to attend.
The June trip for Troop 437 is a Whale Watch outing with Cape Ann Whale Watch and overnight camping in Gloucester!
Depart: 11 AM on Saturday, June 6th at Chelmsford High School lot at corner of Graniteville & Davis Rd. We MUST depart by 11:15 AM.
Return: Approximately 11 AM on Sunday, June 7th
Cost: $60 for whale watch, overnight camping, dinner, cracker barrel & breakfast. Cost is per scout and per attending adult. Overview: We will be departing from Rose's Wharf in Gloucester, MA, approximately a 1-hour drive from Westford. We will board the Hurricane II, the largest and fastest whale watching vessel north of Boston, for an unforgettable trip to Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, just 12 miles offshore. Whale watching tours are 3–4 hours long. You may spot Humpback, Fin, Minke, and other whale species, as well as Atlantic white-sided dolphins and harbor porpoises. A naturalist guide and Coast Guard-certified captain will be on board.
Whale Sighting Guarantee: Cape Ann Whale Watch is so confident in their ability to find whales that they back every trip with a lifetime guarantee – if you do not see a whale, you may return and go again completely free until you do!
Saturday evening activities include camp setup, campfire, and cracker barrel at Cape Ann Camp Site. Sunday morning we will have breakfast, break camp, and head home.
Equipment: Please see the Scout Troop 437 | Camping Essentials page on our website. The Troop has tents and sleeping bags available for borrowing along with some other gear. If you want to borrow equipment, please talk to the quartermaster or a scoutmaster at a Troop meeting.
