Our December Trip for Troop 437 is an Overnight Lock-In at NH Climbing Gym in Concord NH 

But this isn’t just “Rock Climbing”! What to expect….

• All the climbing you can handle top rope and auto-belay - New climbers encouraged!
• Bouldering
• Dodgeball, Movies, Midnight feast, and Games
• Midnight feast!

Meet: McCarthy Middle School @the track, Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 PM 
Return: Sunday, December 8th, 9:00 AM at McCarthy Middle School @the track
Cost: $50 per scout includes climbing and food 
$10 for chaperones (belayers and non-belayers)  

Prices include the midnight feast and a light breakfast.

Help is needed. We need adults to help out with this one, both driving and belaying.  And of course you can climb if you choose.  Please reach out if you’re not currently registered as an adult and we’ll help you get set up.

• No later than Wednesday,  December 4, complete the Troop sign-up form at: Google Signup Form
• Complete the climbing waiver on-line at: Online Waiver  REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES
• Submit payment via Venmo to @westfordtroop437 or bring cash/check to the event 

Adults and scouts age 14 and older can belay for the group.  We need sufficient belayers to support the group.  There will be a  brief refresher/training at the start of the event.  If you have not belayed before, but would like to learn, this is a great opportunity.  It is easy to learn and helps open up all the climbing lanes and minimizes waiting time. 

What to bring:

• Water bottles

• Any games you might want to share

Scouts and Adults, your help is needed! On Saturday, November 23rd, Troop 437 will be helping out a local veteran by raking their yard and clearing out leaves.  Earn service hours for rank advancement!

This event will start at 9:00 am at 32 Second St in Chelmsford and should only take a couple of hours if we get a good turn out.  Please RSVP on this form and please bring tools such as rakes, gloves, and leaf blowers.  

This does count towards service hours (not conservation hours).  Please speak with Drew Sanroma at the troop meeting if there are any questions, or email Mrs. Evangelista at bevangelista1@gmail.com. 

 
It’s time for another Pioneering Palooza!! Pioneering is the art of using ropes and wooden spars joined by lashings and knots to create a structure.

Scouts will be put to the test in fun pioneering challenges. Depending on conditions, challenges may include shelter building and bridge building.  Scouts can assemble their shelters using items found throughout the camp.

As always, we will follow “leave no trace” outdoor code principles and disassemble all shelters prior to leaving.  More discussions on how to prepare for shelter building will be held during the upcoming troop meetings. We plan to cook outdoors.  

Outing: Pioneering + Campout (Cabin, Lean-to or Tent) at Camp Resolute, Bolton, MA

Arrive Campsite: Saturday, November 16th, 2024, Arrive at Camp Resolute at 9:30 AM (just under 30min drive time)

Cost: $20 includes site fee, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, Saturday cracker barrel and Sunday breakfast

       

Signups are open now for Merit Badge Monday this coming Monday, November 18, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the McKeen's house (see separate email for address).

Due to an anticipated very low attendance due to Halloween festivities and the opening of Westford Academy's musical The Cursed Child, we will not be holding a Troop meeting this week.

Signups are open now for Merit Badge Monday this coming Monday, October 28, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the McKeen's house.

We may add additional Merit Badges so please check the form again over the next few days.

New sessions include:

Personal Management
Personal Fitness

A check-in session for Cooking will be held for Scouts who have already started this badge.

There is also a field where you can enter a request for other badges.

We are planning to have Merit Badge Monday sessions on November 18 and December 16. Confirmed dates will be announced at the Troop meeting and in the weekly Troop E-Blast.
