Part of this week's troop meeting will be conducted outdoors so scouts should wear coats and hats and bring gloves and flashlights. Also, please bring any cardboard egg cartons, wood shavings, and dryer lint as they will be used to make fire starters for the upcoming winter camping trip.
This week's troop meeting will not be held at the Legion. It will be at the Kennedy Pond trails (part of the Nashoba Brook Watershed) where the troop will hold a short night hike. Please meet at the parking area at the end of Trailside Way at the usual 7:00 pm starting time. Please bring a flashlight and dress appropriately for the weather. The hike will be complete by 8:30 pm.
Sign up today for the April trip! We will be fishing and day hiking in the Mt. Monadnock area April 28-29! We will be camping at BSA Camp Wanocksett in Dublin NH.
Due to the time of year, the weather will be unpredictable. Please be prepared for cold weather. The Mt. Monadnock summit can experience winter-like conditions even in summer. Scouts should plan to bring boots, long pants, layered clothing, jacket, rain gear, hat, gloves, and a small day pack for the hike.
Additional equipment needed: tent with a rain fly (sharing arranged with other scout(s)), sleeping pad, sleeping bag, mess kit, several extra pairs of socks, spare pair of shoes, flashlight with good batteries, water bottle, compass, map, sports gear, and fishing gear / license, where appropriate.
The November backpacking trip to the Three Ponds shelter in the White Mountains was a big success. 12 scouts and 4 adults completed the trek. Click on the image to the left for more pictures.
Don't know what a Science and Technology Expo is? It is a two day event focused on providing Scouts the opportunity to complete merit badges in two subjects. It is run on two Saturdays in March. On March 11th the participants meet in Nashua and explore the subjects they have signed up for and get to participate in the kick-off, keynote presentation and career fair. On March 25th the scouts go on field trips to local businesses, universities, and other establishments that specialize in the subjects they are working on. Spring is here which means it is time to start thinking about Summer Camp! Troop 437's Summer Camp week is July 14th to the 20th. We want to hear from everyone so we know if you are going or not. Please see the attached sign-up sheet for details.
The June trip for Troop 437 will be a one-night camping trip at Osceola Vista campground. This trip includes a day hike on Saturday in the vicinity of Osceola Mtn. On Sunday morning we will experience the Ariel Forest Adventure Park at Loon Mountain.
