On May 14th the Troop will be holding an Eagle Court of Honor for Danny Cutbill and Noah Michaud. This is an opportunity for the whole Troop, including families, to come out and celebrate the achievements of these two new Eagle Scouts.

The ceremony will be held outdoors at the East Boston Camps (EBC) campfire ring starting at 7 pm. Join us for a campfire and refreshments immediately after the ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony and reception will be indoors at the dining hall building at EBC. Guests are asked to bring folding chairs and flashlights.

Please RSVP by May 7th.

Bike sale Volunteer signup

The Bike Sale is coming next Saturday the 30th (and Friday the 29th).  Thank you to everyone who has collected bikes this year.  We are still looking for more so help spread the word and keep your eyes open.

This is the primary fundraiser for the troop, and is an All-Hands-On-Deck event. We need lots of help from both Adults and Scouts to make this successful.   This is a good opportunity for all parents to help support the troop.  It looks like the weather will be nice and we will have a good time on the common.

We will be collecting a large number on Friday night at the Legion, and I have and I have a dozen at my house  that will need to transport them to the common in the morning.  Also, we will need to transport the leftovers for disposal. If you have a truck or trailer, or an empty minivan, it would be helpful for you to sign up as a transporter.

We have created a SignupGenius identifying general time slots and positions for both SCOUTS and ADULTS.  Please sign up for any position that you're available for.  If you're only available for part of a time period, that's ok, just make a note of it.  If you don't care what you do, as long as its helpful, there is a slot for you too!

See you all then!

Yours in Bikes,

Bike Sale Outreach email

Posted on Apr 27 2022 - 6:45pm

Hi all,

The Troop Bike Sale is coming up fast (April 30) and to help us gather more goods to sell, we are asking all families to reach out directly to your neighbors to announce the event and collect donations of bikes, sporting goods and camping equipment.  Particularly if you have a neighborhood email group or Facebook group you can post to.  Below is a drafted message you can use - feel free to edit it.
If you are unable to pick up/store the donations, let us know and we'll find someone to help you.  If you end up storing donations that need some work, let us know as we may have a repair session prior to the sale.
Thanks - looking forward to a great sale this year!

March Trip Camp Wanocksett and Hiking Mount Monadnock

Posted on Mar 23 2022 - 6:01pm

The March trip will be on the 26th and 27th

Parents and Scouts,

The March trip for Troop 437 will be a day hiking trip in the Mt. Monadnock area. We will be camping at BSA Camp Wanocksett in Dublin NH. If conditions permit, we will go hiking and have the ability to go fishing. This is also an excellent opportunity to become familiar with the site for Summer Camp.

Due to the time of year, the weather will be unpredictable. Please be prepared for cold weather. The summit can experience winter like conditions even in summer. Scouts will be required to bring boots, micro spikes for hiking, long pants, layered clothing, jacket, rain gear, hat, gloves, and a small day pack for the hike.

Additional equipment needed: tent with a rain fly (sharing arranged with other scout(s)), sleeping pad, sleeping bag, mess kit, several extra pairs of socks, spare pair of shoes, flashlight with good batteries, water bottle, compass, map, sports gear, and fishing gear / license where appropriate.
