The place we were going to go for cross country skiing is closed down for the winter. This means we will be doing Plan B. We meet at the Depot Rd parking lot of East Boston Camps (Stony Brook Conservation Land) at 7pm and plan a loop that will return us to the parking lot by 8:30. The low for Thursday is looking to be 40 degrees. Remember to wear warm enough clothes. Also, wear boots with tread as we might be walking over snowy and icy bits.
The March trip for Troop 437 is to New York City. We will spend a full day in the city exploring, seeing the sights, and visiting some really cool attractions.
Sign-up deadline: Sunday, February 26th
This is a hard deadline as we will be purchasing the group tickets for attractions the following day
Sign up early! We have reserved cabin space for 20 scouts. If we have more than 20 sign-ups we will try to get additional cabin space but it isn’t guaranteed we will be able to accommodate more.
We will be staying in cabins at BSA Camp Alpine in Alpine, New Jersey, Friday and Saturday nights. On Saturday morning, we will be taking a bus to Staten Island and taking the Staten Island Ferry to Battery Park from which we will start our day-long tour of the Big Apple. The itinerary is to get to as many of the places and events that the scouts have selected as possible. We will be traveling together and will stop as a group for both lunch and dinner. The scouts will be responsible for the cost of their lunch which will likely be at a New York Pizza place. Dinner will likely be a sit-down dinner and the cost is factored into the trip cost. It is recommended that each scout bring a small sling bag to the city to carry things they may purchase, additional clothing, etc., as the weather can be wide-ranging. We will be doing a lot of walking so make sure you have good shoes, water, and a few snacks to keep your energy up. Do not bring any knives.
Preliminary Saturday NYC Itinerary (some items may be changed based on group size, weather, and whim)

This is an outdoor camping trip - participants should be prepared to sleep in tents or shelters of their own construction. No cabin will be available. Due to the amunt of snow on the ground it is likely that scouts will have to clear areas for their tents and cooking. Scouts need to come prepared with approiate clothing and equipment.
See our Cold Weather Camping page for more information.
The March trip for Troop 437 is a Pioneering and Survival weekend at Camp Resolute Scout Reservation. On Saturday the boys will put to test as well as improve upon their pioneering and survival skills. All boys will have the opportunity to plan and assemble their own survival shelters of items found throughout camp! Those boys with a desire for adventure will be able to sleep in the survival shelters that they construct. We will follow “leave no trace” principals and disassemble all shelters prior to leaving.
The March trip for Troop 437 will be a day hiking trip to Mt. Monadnock. We will be camping at BSA CampWanocksett in Dublin NH. If weather and trail conditions allow we will hike to the sumit otherwise a route around the base of Mt Monadnock will be choosen.
Due to the time of year, the weather will be unpredictable. Please be prepared for cold weather. The summit can experience winter like conditions even in summer. Scouts will be required to bring Boots, long pants, layered clothing, jacket, rain gear, hat, gloves, and a small day pack for the hike.
