Family Life and Citizenship in the Community merit badges will be starting up soon.  Scouts who are first class or above can sign-up by speaking to the merit badge counselors.  Mr. Weaver will be counseling Citizenship in the Community and Mrs. McKeen will be counseling Family Life.

All scouts who are attending this weekend's backpacking trip must bring in their packed backpacks to this week's troop meeting for an equipment check.  The backpacks will be inspected for weight and to ensure they fit properly.  Patrols will also be splitting up common equipment and food.  If you are renting a backpack and do not yet have it please bring all your equipment in a temporary bag (duffel bag or similar).  It will be weighed and inventoried.  

The 2011 - 2012 Troop dues and BSA registration fees are now due. The total cost for the two items is $66.25 per scout. Yearly Troop dues are $50 and BSA registration is $16.25. Scouts should submit checks to the scribe at the next troop meeting.

One of the best ways to sell popcorn is "Take and Sell".  This is where the scout takes a selection of popcorn with him when he sells door to door.  That way orders can be fullfilled on the initial visit vs having to return at a later date.  The troop has a supply of popcorn for the scouts to pickup - any popcorn that is not sold can be returned to the troop.  Contact John Laushine to arrange a pickup time.

Sat. Oct 8th is our popcorn/cookie dough group sale.  This was a big success last year.

The boys who did it sold a good amount of cookie dough, almost every house they went to bought some.

The only complaint I received from the boys is that the selling time was too short, they wanted to go to more houses and sell longer!  If you want to earn money for the Sea Base trip then you probably have to sell to more people than just your neighbors and family.  The "Group Sale" is the way to do it!  I need both Scouts and parents to help, sign up at the meeting this week or reply to my e-mail address below.

• Meet at 12:00 noon at the Legion
• Wear your class A or at least your class B uniform
• 2 boys will go together with a parent who will drive and stay with them  (need 1 parent volunteer for every 2 boys)
• 3:30 we meet back at the legion for ICE CREAM SUNDAE'S! :o)
• 4:00  clean-up and leave 

All troop equipment from this weekend's campout needs to be returned this week.  Please make sure it is cleaned and ready to be stored away in the shed.
