Posted on Oct 23 2012 - 7:55pm

If you have not yet signed up for the upcoming camping trip and would like to you can still sign up - bring in your signed permission form and payment at the beginning of this week's troop meeting.

Troop 437’s October trip is a wilderness survival outing at Wah-Tut-Ca scout reservation.  Scouts will work on requirements for the Wilderness Survival merit badge.  Scouts will learn how to and build their own survival shelter to sleep the night in.  A group lesson on shelter building will be held during the trip, and older scouts will oversee shelter construction, providing assistance where needed.  A ground cloth is greatly encouraged to keep sleeping bags and gear dry and a foam or other non-air sleeping mattress is also recommended as it will provide better insulation against the cold ground.   Scouts should also bring tents as a backup to the built shelters.  Like every trip, scouts under first class should bring their books to work on advancement.

If a scout doesn't want to sleep in the shelters they build they can bring and use tents.

Permission slips can be found here and are due by October 18th.
